Prague=Home
I have finally been figuring out my surroundings. I am not the most specially aware person when it comes to new cities and it normally takes a while to find my way around. It feels more like home when I know where I'm going. This past weekend we visited three towns in Austria and while it was a blast we call kept saying when we got back to Prague that it felt good to be "home." Some of the recent experiences I have had in Prague relate to the two classes I am taking, Education Psychology and Measurement and Assessment. I have had to learn a lot of new customs I'm not used to. One of the major ones was eating in restaurants. In the USA,you wait to be seated at a restaurant and at the end, the bill comes to the table without asking. I had to accommodate the restaurant customs in the Czech Republic into an existing schema because the culture here is so different. It didn't take me long to create a Czech Republic restaurant schema in order to eat out without seeming lost every time I walked in. Also from my Measurement and Assessments class, we talked a lot about reliability and validity. For example, today the weather was supposed to be 76 and sunny. But right now, its about 60 and cloudy. I wore shorts and a light top so now I'm really cold. The weather prediction is most of the time reliable because it is valid in the end. Today, I assumed that the weather prediction would be reliable again but it was not valid today.
