Public Transportation Strike

Last Thursday was very interesting because the Czech Republic had a 24-hour nationwide public transportation strike. The trains completely stopped operating, the metro did not operate for the first time since its opening, and only 40 percent of trams and 20 percent of buses were running. The strike was held to protest against tax, healthcare, welfare, and pension reforms proposed by the government. This week in class we learned about reinforcement and punishment and I suppose this public transportation action could be an example of removal punishment for the government because an existing stimulus that brings in a ton of money was removed for the day. Due to the strike I decided to walk the 1.9 miles to and from the institute for EDP class instead of taking the one tram that was running. On the way back to the pension I rewarded myself for all the walking I did that day with the most amazing mocha frappe from Coffee Heaven. This would be an example of positive reinforcement because I presented myself with a stimulus and it encourages me to walk more so I can earn all the amazing sweets I eat.
