Nemluvím moc Česky.

Since I have been in Prague I have tried to pick up some of the Czech language. It is a very difficult language to learn but everywhere I go I try to use selective attention to mentally attend to the words I hear. Today while I was stuck forever in the check out line at Albert (the grocery store), I listened carefully to the conversation between the cashier and customer in front of me. I could not understand majority of what they were talking about but I was able to pick up on a few words here and there, especially when the customer pointed to his coupons or certain foods. These words were then moved into my working memory to be processed. I hope to gain more of the language bit by bit the longer I am here. I will have to continue paying attention to conversations in restaurants, shops, on the metro, etc. so that I can learn and speak in Czech more easily to people.
